Tell us a bit more about your career progression within Whiteoaks

I joined Whiteoaks as a Content Writer to create a wide variety of PR and marketing copy for our B2B tech clients. After three months, an opportunity came my way to take on a newly-formed role within our agency and become a Digital Content Creator. In February 2024, I became a Digital Content Manager, responsible for leading digital and social programmes for our clients.

How did you get into PR?

From a young age I knew I wanted to go to university in an English-speaking country. I just didn’t quite know what to study. What I did know was that I wanted to talk and write a lot in my future career. How very specific, right? When it came to applying for undergraduate degrees, I was drawn towards the creative field of advertising. However, I promised myself I wouldn’t study the same degree as my sister did… Couple of clicks away and there I was reading about PR. “Yup, that’s the one,” I thought.

So, I packed my suitcase, moved to England and started my PR degree at Bucks New University. After a couple of years, I transferred to Bournemouth University where I completed two internships at B2B tech PR agencies and eventually graduated with a first-class degree. I then worked as a Content Marketing Executive for a customer feedback software provider, whilst copywriting in a freelance capacity. And here I am now, still PR-ing and loving every minute of it!

What’s been the highlight of your Whiteoaks career so far?

There’s been a few, but I’d have to start with the change to my role itself as it really allows me to thrive and develop in areas I am most passionate about. Secondly, when one of our clients was nominated for an award, which I wrote. And most recently, I’ve discovered that I am a good speech writer too, having received great feedback from our client and a request to write more. The combination of learning new things and being recognised for hard work is definitely a cherry on top.

What makes you smile at the end of the day?

Great feedback from a client and a piece of cake.

When I’m not PRing I like to…

Make a mess in my kitchen trying to develop new free-from recipes. Or borrow my friend’s dog and go for long walkies. Both bring me equal joy.
