When did you start working at Whiteoaks?
I started in October 2019
Tell us a bit more about your career progression within Whiteoaks.
I began as a Campaign Executive when I initially joined Whiteoaks, which included responsibilities such as social media monitoring and posting, campaign reporting and content proofing. After almost a year in the role, an opportunity came up to join the content team. I applied for it and was successful! Since September 2020 I’ve written content for a range of our clients across sectors such as retail, broadcast and emerging technologies as a Specialist Content Writer.
How did you get into PR?
Although my work background is primarily in marketing and project coordination after previously completing a marketing-focused business management degree, I’ve always been interested in the media and was impressed by Whiteoaks when applying to work here.
What’s been the highlight of your Whiteoaks career so far?
Probably making the successful switch to Specialist Content Writer. It was a big shift in my day-to-day responsibilities but I’m delighted that I’ve received good feedback internally and from clients on the quality of my written pieces.
What makes you smile at the end of the day?
Knowing that the words I put to paper are being published and read by professionals in a range of sectors.
When I’m not PRing I like to…
As a husband and dad, I like to spend time outside of work with my family. My hobbies include football and music. I go to Fulham F.C. matches as often as I can and I have an ever-growing vinyl collection taking up space at home!

When did you start working at Whiteoaks?
I joined Whiteoaks in November 2016
Tell us a bit more about your career progression within Whiteoaks, for example, your first role and how you’ve developed since then
Fresh from uni I started at Whiteoaks back in November 2016 as a Junior Account Executive and in nearly as many years, I’ve received as many promotions. Working my way through from admin and reporting based tasks, learning the ropes pitching to journalists and analysts to the account management role, up to AD where I am now. I have certainly gained a wealth of valuable experience in my roles to date!
How did you get into PR? For example, what did you study? Your previous jobs, etc.
After getting a taste for PR as a work experience placement at a marketing agency, I decided that the fast-paced buzz around getting companies’ stories and messages heard in the media was key for me. Anyone potentially interested in pursuing a career in PR, I’d definitely say it is worthwhile trying to get a work experience placement at an agency, that way you’ll be able to tell if it will be a fit for you.
What’s been the highlight of your Whiteoaks career so far?
It’s hard to choose just one, I’m really proud of the many of the research projects I have been involved in for clients, which have uncovered revealing and unique industry insights and have achieved high-quality media coverage. As well as the results creating unique conversations for clients to have with both potential customers, journalists, analysts and influencers.
I love networking and connecting clients and journalists, whether that be over lunch or coffee or at an event. I have been fortunate to facilitate many briefings for clients over my five years at various industry events, including at the ExCeL and NEC, at one point I had been due to go to the NAB show in Las Vegas, which I’m sure would have been a top highlight on this list, though COVID put a stop to that. It’s exciting to see events coming back to life and everyone getting back out there again!
What makes you smile at the end of the day?
Knowing that the team and I have made a good effort to get through our to-do lists and in the process achieve some top tier coverage and opportunities for our clients.
When I’m not PRing I like to…
Go to festivals, for weekends away, I also like to attempt to stay active by going to the gym or running with my other Whiteoaks running buddies, we are lucky as one of our perks is having Brian the running coach come and train us every Monday after work!

When did you start working at Whiteoaks?
I started in June 2021
Tell us a bit more about your career progression within Whiteoaks
Since joining Whiteoaks nine months ago, I feel I have really developed and progressed – not only within my role but also within myself.
I am currently working on the social media channels of five of our B2B clients that specialise in a range of areas, from broadcast to cloud computing. I run monthly campaign reports, set-up paid social campaigns, write organic social schedules and speak with most clients on a weekly basis. This role has most definitely allowed me to develop my communication, time-management and numerical skills.
Alongside my role, I am also working closely with the Whiteoaks Mental Health Ambassadors and the Charity Committee, representing and working for my colleagues.
I am currently on a development plan and am so excited to discover what’s to come in my role as I progress to the next step as a Senior Digital Account Executive.
How did you get into PR?
After finishing my A-Levels in 2019, I decided not to go to university but instead dive into a Level 4 Digital Marketing Apprenticeship at Farnborough College of Technology.
Alongside this apprenticeship, I worked at a managed IT services provider until 2021, when my apprenticeship came to an end. After passing with flying colours and working on the social media, graphic design and content writing of the organisation, I discovered my passion lay truly in the social media space and that was when I was provided with the opportunity to work as a Digital Account Executive at Whiteoaks. And the rest is history!
What’s been the highlight of your Whiteoaks career so far?
So far, one of the main highlights of my career has been becoming a Mental Health Ambassador for my colleagues. Our aim is to remove the stigma around mental health and provide staff with a safe space to open up and talk about what’s troubling them, and assist them in finding the help they need.
I feel very lucky to be working alongside a group of individuals that are aiming to make mental health a less taboo subject – I feel proud to be someone that my colleagues can come to when struggling with something.
What makes you smile at the end of the day?
At the end of the day, something that always makes me smile is seeing the success of a client’s social media channel.
Being able to feed back to a client and inform them that their social post has gone viral and they’re now experiencing an increase of engagement, impressions and link clicks is very rewarding and something I value massively as it shows my hard work is paying off!
When I’m not PRing I like to…
When I’m not PRing, I like to go to the gym (weight training is my favourite), I love cooking for friends and family (curries and risottos are my speciality) and I love spending A LOT of time on TikTok and Instagram (guilty).

When did you start working at Whiteoaks?
In June 2021
Tell us a bit more about your career progression within Whiteoaks
I joined Whiteoaks as a Content Writer to create a wide variety of PR and marketing copy for our B2B tech clients. After three months, an opportunity came my way to take on a newly-formed role within our agency and become a Digital Content Creator. I am now working across both our Content Practice and Digital team, and utilising my copywriting, SEO and social media strategy experience to help our clients make the most of their digital presence.
How did you get into PR?
From a young age I knew I wanted to go to university in an English-speaking country. I just didn’t quite know what to study. What I did know was that I wanted to talk and write a lot in my future career. How very specific, right? When it came to applying for undergraduate degrees, I was drawn towards the creative field of advertising. However, I promised myself I wouldn’t study the same degree as my sister did… Couple of clicks away and there I was reading about PR. “Yup, that’s the one,” I thought.
So, I packed my suitcase, moved to England and started my PR degree at Bucks New University. After a couple of years, I transferred to Bournemouth University where I completed two internships at B2B tech PR agencies and eventually graduated with a first-class degree. I then worked as a Content Marketing Executive for a customer feedback software provider, whilst copywriting in a freelance capacity. And here I am now, still PR-ing and loving every minute of it!
What’s been the highlight of your Whiteoaks career so far?
There’s been a few, but I’d have to start with the change to my role itself as it really allows me to thrive and develop in areas I am most passionate about. Secondly, when one of our clients was nominated for an award, which I wrote. And most recently, I’ve discovered that I am a good speech writer too, having received great feedback from our client and a request to write more. The combination of learning new things and being recognised for hard work is definitely a cherry on top.
What makes you smile at the end of the day?
Great feedback from a client and a piece of cake.
When I’m not PRing I like to…
Make a mess in my kitchen trying to develop new free-from recipes. Or borrow my friend’s dog and go for long walkies. Both bring me equal joy.
